So why did God create the world, the angels and particularly….why did He create man? Revelation four and five combine to answer that question. God begins the revelation in heaven with worship and ends it the same way. Worship is your highest purpose in life and yet it is almost an afterthought for most believers. The universe is Theo centric. It is made by God, for God’s purpose which is to be glorified in His own creation. The “why” of the events and circumstances of your life can always be answered this way; God is working for His own glory which is also the highest good of His creatures and creation.
This is the only book in the Bible that promises a blessing to those who read, hear and heed it…..and yet…..we mostly fear this book. When was the last time you heard someone say….The Book of Revelation is my favorite Bible Book? You need to see why God will bless you if you read and listen to the preaching of this book. Now why is Revelation going to make you happy and blessed? Because it is the uncovering of Christ in His undiminished glory to a church whose last recollection of Him was in humility. Christ was born in humility, He lived in humility, He died in humility, He even rose, appeared and ascended in humility. He never conquered, He never destroyed evil, He never made things right, He never became King. All of that is about to change!
“Don’t go overboard!” “Don’t get carried away!” “Keep a level head.” “Don’t go to extremes!” “Moderation in all things!” These and many other saying like them describe the modern pre-occupation with the middle of the road. The quest for perfect fairness and tolerance gives us “The undecided voter.” “The moderate politician.” The objective observer” and “The inoffensive Church. There was a church in the first century much like the one in our day. They esteemed tolerance and moderation. They sought not to offend. They wanted to build a bridge to their world and make unbelievers comfortable with Jesus. Better yet, just make them comfortable…..we will tell them about God and maybe Christ later on. We just don’t want to offend anyone, but in the process they offend Christ and God to the point of judgment and rejection.
